Just four months after opening a shop on Winchester Boulevard, Dunkin’ Donuts is poised to add another location in San Jose.

The franchise — at Almaden Expressway and Foxworthy Avenue — will be the third in the South Bay. The first brand-new location opened in 2018 on Snell Avenue.

Dunkin’ Donuts’ re-emergence in the Bay Area — there had been a shop in San Jose decades ago — started in June 2016 with a Walnut Creek store. That was followed by several locations from South San Francisco to the East Bay to Santa Cruz.

An early Dunkin’ franchise in San Jose was owned and operated by Chip and Sara Lim, who turned it into an independent bakery, Sunny Donuts. They ran the two shops for a combined 33 years.

Details: Most Dunkin’ locations open at 5 a.m. daily; closing times vary. 1110 Foxworthy Ave. at Almaden Expressway, San Jose. www.dunkindonuts.com
