MILLBRAE – A man wearing a surgical mask robbed a grocery store in Millbrae late Tuesday, authorities said.

The robbery was reported shortly before 10 p.m. at the Lucky’s at 45 Murchison Drive. During the robbery, the suspect told store employees he had a gun and reached for his waistband, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

The sheriff’s office said security footage from the supermarket showed the suspect wearing a surgical mask.

Deputies checked the area and found a man who matched the description of the suspect. A search of the man, identified as 40-year-old Fredachi Stone, turned up items stolen from the grocery store, as well as a surgical mask, the sheriff’s office said. No gun was found.

Stone was arrested and booked at San Mateo County jail on charges of robbery, possession of drug paraphernalia and a parole violation.
